The FOB Rapid Test Kit, designed for qualitative detection of fecal occult blood (FOB), is a reliable and convenient tool for identifying gastrointestinal bleeding that may otherwise go unnoticed. Utilizing colloidal gold and immunochromatography technology, this kit allows healthcare professionals to detect hemoglobin in fecal samples with high specificity. Here’s an overview of key components and usage instructions:

Product Overview

  • Format: Available in test card and test strip types
  • Shelf Life: 24 months, with storage at 2-30°C
  • Sensitivity: Detects hemoglobin at a concentration of 0.1 μg/mL
  • Intended Use: Qualitative in vitro diagnosis of gastrointestinal bleeding, such as from ulcers, hemorrhoids, or dysentery

Test Procedure

  1. Sample Preparation: Collect a fecal sample with the sampling stick, mix it in the provided sample diluent, and allow the mixture to rest at room temperature before testing.
  2. Test Execution:
    • For the test card: Add 2 drops of the prepared sample mixture into the test well and read the result within 5-10 minutes.
    • For the test strip: Insert the strip into the sample mixture and ensure it’s tested on a dry, horizontal surface.
  3. Result Interpretation:
    • Positive: Red bands in both the control line (C) and test line (T).
    • Negative: Red band only in the control line (C).
    • Invalid: No red band in the control line; requires retesting.

Important Considerations

  • Avoid testing during menstruation or if there’s blood in the urine, as this may lead to false positives.
  • Proper sample handling and adherence to instructions are crucial to ensure reliable results.
  • Dispose of all used items as medical waste according to local regulations.

Limitations

This kit provides a qualitative indication of FOB presence, not quantification. Positive results should be followed up with further clinical evaluation. Additionally, improper handling, contamination, or certain drugs may lead to inaccurate outcomes.
